Founded by Professor Fermin Herrera
in 1973, Conjunto Hueyapan of Oxnard,
CA is a family group consisting of four
brothers and Fermin's two sons. The
family ensemble has dedicated itself to
the performance and research of the son
jarocho and has conducted several
important research projects that have
resulted in the preservation of the of son
mexicano in general and of the son jarocho
in particular.  Includes "El Pajaro Cu", 
"El Colas", "El Canelo", and others.

Conjunto Macuilxochitl is a family
musical group consisting of five
Herrera brothers from the city of
Oxnard, CA. The ages of these young
performers of Mexican music from the
Gulf Coast of Mexico, range from the
age of twelve to twenty years of age.
The group takes its name from the
Aztec god of dance and music. The
group specializes in playing the son
jarocho (regional music of southern
Veracruz) son huasteco, (regional music
of eastern and central Mexico) and
"Nortenas" from Northernb Mexico.

Jorge Mijangos Instruments
Jaranas and  Requintos made by luthier and Jaranero Jorge Mijangos
from Southern California's El Son Del Pueblo and Conjunto Jardin.
Mijangos instruments are "escarbados" (carved from one solid piece of 
Spanish cedar) with  western red cedar or spruce tops.  They can be
ordered with wooden/metal tuning pegs. Jorge  also currently has a very
limited supply of  quijadas de burro (Donkey Jaws) available for sale.

El Son del Pueblo is a duet that performs
the folk music of Veracruz, Mexico. The
duet is comprised of John Robles, a
native of Santa Paula, California,
who sings and plays the Veracruz folk
harp (arpa jarocha), jarana and requinto
jarocho and Jorge Mijangos, who was born
in San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas,
Mexico who sings and plays various sizes
of jarana jarocha as well as percussion.
